Webinar: Activating Cash Deposits to Support Native Communities

Foundations of Impact
February 7, 2020

Interest around impact investing in Native communities has been growing, helped along by efforts like those of Confluence Philanthropy over the last several years.

An as-yet underexplored potential avenue is around cash deposits, which can be activated for impact through notes issued by Native-owned banks. There are few banks serving the needs of Native communities, and even fewer Native-owned banks. The historic exclusion of Native people from the financial sector is compounded by a less familiar legal framework.

Native American Bank works to improve access to capital. As the only national Native-owned bank – representing tribes from across the country – NAB has the relationships and experience to address the deep capital gap in Native communities and build the economy sovereignty of the tribes the bank represents.

In this webinar, NAB's Joel Smith, Shannon Ward, and Tom Ogaard present an opportunity for impact investors to align their cash deposits with the mission of bringing affordable financing to Native communities.
